Roger Daltrey has volunteered to do an e-mail interview so that he can reflect on his recent tour. Please submit your questions here.
In his e-mail to me, Roger also asked me to post this:
Please send all our supporters seasons greetings from the universe and let them know how much I value their contribution to my life.
Be lucky,
Roger

Fantastic!
Well.. I'm sort of wondering what made Roger and Pete go on after the death of John? It was incredibly strong, in my opinion.
And do Roger regret anything troughout his career with the Who?
That's all, I think.
Just have to say that I love the Who. The Who has giving me so much strength and curage, and the Who were the band that made me into a mod. I can never thank you enough for that.
Long live! ^^

Mr Daltrey,
I've long been an admirer of your harp playing - who were the foremost influences on you with regards to the harmonica?

Good day Roger,
Is your band going to stay together for the Eric Clapton tour?
Are you going to play with Eric?
Do you have any plans to put out a DVD from your "Use It Or Lose It" tour. The gig in Orlando would be a good one to produce. My 16 year old son and I really enjoyed the concert.
We share the same March 1st birthday. I'm 52. Stay lucky and free,
Cheers,
Kenny

Please do try to focus your questions as much as possible around Roger's recent tour, which is what he has specifically requested.
I won't be sending all the questions to him anyhow. As usual, i'll be editing them down as far as I can so that he has as many questions as possible that he hasn't been asked before. tricky, I know, since we're talking about a superstar who's been interviewed countless times over 40 years. But we need to make sure he is engaged by the questions put to him to make sure we get the best of him.
Cheers,
Rob

My question is rather simple and typical, are you planning to do any tour around Europe soon? I'd love to see you guys again around Barcelona!

Mr. Daltrey,
How has this tour been different than your other tours with The Who? Do people treat you differently as a solo artist? And are there any plans to release a live album of sorts? How did you come across Paper Zoo, the opening band, as well?
Thanks so much for everything.
Sam

I attended your recent concert in New Jersey and it was fantastic! However, I was hoping to hear "Let Me Down Easy" and "After the Fire." Was there a reason why you chose not to do some of your most popular songs from your solo career?

Hi Roger,
You mentioned recently that you were thinking of doing a solo record, and for songwriters who couldn't sing particularly well to send you their songs. How much response have you gotten?
Great show in New Jersey, by the way.
Cheers,
Mark

Thanks, Rob.
All in all, did he get everything out of the tour that he had hoped?
As far as helping to keep his voice in shape for the upcoming months and preparing for recording, does he feel it was a success? i.e. is he ready to use it some more?
Was he scared when his voice started to give out right there in the middle? (Cuz I was. And then Bmore go cancelled. But no hard feelings, haha.)
...and if you and I had kept all the money we'd already spent
we woulda been millionaires a long, long, long time ago!

Hi Roger,
I flew 1,500 miles, and drove 3 hours to see you in Charlotte, North Carolina. I have been a fan of yours, and The Who for almost 4 decades. I was fortunate to get a meet & greet package, and meet you and get a photo. I found it hard to believe that someone of your fame and stature could be so humble and really love your fans, but you do!
My question, with all of the venues available in the Minneapolis and St. Paul area, why no stop/s here? You have, as a solo artist, and The Who, as a band, have always done extremely well here, but it seems like you skipped the entire upper Midwest on your tour. Was there a reason?
And, how do you feel about fans visiting you in England? I have always wanted to travel there but never had the money. But maybe someday I will. Would that be OK with you?
Thank you for an amazing experience. I have pictures and even a few short video clips to remind me of your concert. Thank you for sharing your gift of music with us.
Love,
Caden

Hi Roger,
First of all, I want to thank you for the incredible show you did here in NYC last month and the opportunity to finally meet you (at the M&G), as well as the many years of great entertainment and what it has meant to me at certain times.
Was there anything which occurred during the tour that surprised you -- that didn't turn out the way you expected, either for better or worse?
Also, do you have any plans to do more acting?
Anyway, I hope you and your loved ones have a happy holiday.
Love,
Leslie

While choosing material for the set list, was there any area of your own musical history that you felt was ripe for rediscovery?
Is it particularly satisfying to see an obscure, relatively unknown song get a great response from the audience?

Roger how did you decide on the cities to perform in and also how did you chose your set list? I loved the song selection but was truly hoping to hear more of your solo songs, any chance of that happening in your next solo tour?
Would like to say thank you for a wonderful performance at Montclair. Took my teenage daughter for her birthday and she absolutely loved it, you have another fan for life! I also thought you were great in AC what a great show and how nice it was to meet you.....you are an incredibly nice person!
Thank you too for your charitable contributions, they are important to many:)

Hi Roger,
From the posted set-lists, "Cache Cache" seemed to be in there early days and then dropped. Any particular reason for that?
Should Pete not be ready to tour next year, would there be a "Use It Or Lose It Part II"?
Wishing you continued success and happiness in 2010.

Hi Roger,
I saw your show in Montclair, NJ on November 11, 2009. While you started your show by advising anyone who was expecting a Who show that they weren't going to get one, it was still the greatest rock show I ever saw! I got to meet you in person before hand and you were very kind and clearly appreciative of your fans - Thank you so much!
I was wondering your opinion of your opening act, Paper Zoo. I think the audience (myself included) was expecting to throw banana peels at a lame group of young wannabees (after all, who could compare to the lead singer of The Who?!?) but I found the audience to be pleasantly surprised and actually enjoyed the band. What's your opinon of your opening act?
Best Regards,
Rhonda Frobose

Just wondering what your LEAST favorite part of being in a band was? Especially a band like The Who.

Roger,
Closing night in Clearwater was amazing. It is in my top 10 shows of all time, and I have seen a lot of concerts!!!
At one point during Going Mobile you had the crowd whipped into a frenzy and you stopped and looked out over the audience and you simply said "Wow". I was in the 3rd row and could clearly see your face(lucky me!)
After all these years, are you still surprised by how much your fans love you? Or are you surprised that we still love you as much as we did years ago?
We have no titles like Prince in America, but you are truly rock royalty in this country
Thank you for sharing your gift with us!
My only regret is not getting the Meet and Greet. Will you kindly offer that again?
With love,
Maria Pugliese

Roger: What is the best, and worst part of being on the road? A lot of fans are curious about this, because we can't relate to that "lifestyle".
THANK YOU! I saw you at Ruth Eckard Hall in Clearwater, Fla. I travelled from the Albany/Saratoga,NY area, and it was well worth it! I did the meet and greet! You are the kind of guy I would just like to hang out, and chill with. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR EVERYTHING ABOUT YOURSELF (I.E. TALENT, PERSONALITY) THAT YOU HAVE SHARED WITH US!!

Hi Roger,
do you consider this hectic tour fulfilled your objective re maintaining your vocals ? An arduous tour schedule for even dare we say younger singers, how do you find the energy ?
And please one more, is there any chance of the Solo tour hitting downunder in between Who tour/commitments ?
Thankyou for receiving questions !!
Merry Christmas and Be Lucky
Babs.

HI, Roger,
You talked about John's high note, The Who's earliest days, and your love to the blues between tunes during your 'Use It Or Lose It' solo tour.
Sadly, I didn't have the opportunity to attend any of the concerts from this tour, but I really enjoyed reading your comments from the reviews and articles that the internet brought.
Did you give them off the cuff, or have enough time to prepare proper speeches as your biography?
Are there any plans for your next solo tour?
I think the best place for the next 'Use it or Lose it' tour should be in Japan.
We'd love to hear your tales and setlists that perfectly cover your entire career.
Best reagrds,
Rie

Hi Roger. Always felt that you are the best vocalist out there. What I did not know was what an amazing frontman and entertainer you are until your solo tour. You are much more quiet when fronting the Who. Ever considered engaging the audience like you did recently? It puts an icon like you in a very human light and draws the audience in. Would Pete mind?

Roger,
I had the good fortune to attend your show at the Ryman on the Use It Or Lose It tour. It was superb. I'm excited that you are going to return to Nashville in February with Eric Clapton.
Is there any chance that the two of you will share the stage for any songs?
Thanks

Thanks to Mr. Daltrey for coming to Orlando, FL on his tour. I was fortunate enough to see him performing live for the first time last month here. I did hear Roger mention in one of the shows that he had never really done a solo tour like this before. I was just wondering why he waited so long? He also said Behind Blue Eyes is one of his favorite songs does he have other ones that he loves to sing? Favorite cities to visit on the tour?
Thank you again and keep on singing,
Vicky

I'd like to start this off by saying Roger Daltrey is an amazing man. I have met quite a few musicians and none of them have ever cared as much about their fans as he does, nor have they ever been as genuine as him. It's nice to see Roger giving his fans another chance to connect with him.
I had the opportunity to see him twice during this tour, taking in both of his shows in North Carolina, and they were arguably the two best concerts I have ever seen. My question is this; it is clear that meeting Roger affected many of his fans in a positive way. Were there any meetings that Roger found to be memorable or any that affect him? Also, did he receive any memorable gifts or things from his fans? I met him and it changed my life, much like the music of The Who, as well as his solo efforts have. I met him at the end of one of the toughest years in my life and I found him to be encouraging, kind, and incredibly inspiring. You can't meet a better man than Roger.
Here's to him, and for the gentleman who runs this site. Happy holidays to everyone!
<3,
Stefani

Mr Daltrey,
I saw the tour in CT and of course, it was everything I expected. I saw you on your "Under A Raging Moon" tour in 85' also, Thank you for doing Pictures of Lily again. The question I have is why didn't you do more of your solo works? I would have loved to have heard "one man band" "giving it all away", "parting should be painless" and "reasons". On another note, would The Who ever do more live material from "It's Hard"?
Thank you
Paul Nicolas

Hello Roger,
I'm a longtime Who fan from Detroit, MI. I attended the last show of your tour in Clearwater, FL. It was truly an exhilarating experience! I had a 4th row seat and couldn't stop dancing for most of the show! We met at the M&G. You were so kind and personable. I was totally tongue tied and wanted to let you know how much I appreciated the hug you gave me. Loved when you performed Young Man's Blues and wondered why you chose to do that song? It was one of the highlights for me. Also, (besides Pete) - who are some of your favorite songwriters? Why so long between solo tours? And lastly, what do you do to stay in such fantastic physical shape? Thank you for this rare and wonderful experience. It was such a treat to meet you and see you and your band perform in a more intimate setting. Thank you for having such a charitable and giving heart. Yes- you are a legendary rock star but YOU ARE SO MUCH MORE!!
Sincerely,
Annette Sinclair

Dear Roger,
The setlist during the recent tour was wonderful and I did enjoy hearing a mix of songs. What was your favorite, different, song you performed? Which one did you feel was your best performance? I wanted to say I love the way you were so friendly to fans during the meet and greets and also the bantar on stage.
Will you solo tour again?

Roger,
I'm a monitor engineer and noticed you had issues with your mix during both of the shows I attended. What does your mix consist of (same for in-ear and floor wedges)? What were/are some of those issues? And has your hearing been greatly affected by so many years of loud rock n roll?

Hi Roger,
I heard somewhere that you would purposely try to lose the band during "Young Man Blues". How'd they do keeping up with you??
Also, I was beside the woman that you doused with water in the front row @ the Boston show. How mad were you at that moment?? (you got me a little to )
And, I sent out my meet and greet picture as my christmas card this year. HOPE YOU DON'T MIND!
Looking forward to 2010!
Love
Tracy
